The Mummy Code

Meet Rachelle Bingham...

She's a Super Mum to two, Hudson & Scarlett, and is the author behind the much-loved motherhood blog The Mummy Code.

Much like us all, Rachelle has been party to many hilarious parenting moments over the past few years - with her most recent one revolving around her cool "spiky" legs becoming the talk of childcare.

You’re Mum to?

Hudson 4 and Scarlett 2

The Mummy Code

Tell us about the beginnings of your blog, The Mummy Code.

I started The Mummy Code when I was on maternity leave with Scarlett. Hudson was born 6 weeks early and had silent reflux and Scarlett had hip dysplasia. I figured I could share my experiences and stories with other parents.

Never again will I...

have time for drama or toxic people. Being a mum puts everything into perspective and I just don't have time for drama.

Favourite brunch spot in Melbourne?

We don't really for out for brunch a lot. We do enjoy going out for dinner (early if the kids are with us). My favourites are Shira Nui is Glen Waverley or Koko at Crown.

Who or what inspires you?

My own mum. She is always there for me and I have always felt comfortable telling her anything.

Funniest parenting moment so far?

So many.  The funniest times are when the kids say something inappropriate but innocent and I have to conceal my laughter.

The other day, Scarlett told a childcare lady that her mummy has spikey legs that hurt if you touch them. She said it like it was a really ‘cool' thing. I was happy to be wearing pants that day.

Your perfume is?

Viktor Rolf -  Flower bomb or Spice bomb

What song immediately puts you in a great mood?

Completely overplayed, but probably Happy. I love dancing around with the kids.

If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

My dad or Pa. I lost my dad last year and I miss him every single day.

What’s the best parenting advice you’ve ever received?

Don't Google. Of course I still do, but I know I shouldn't. I end up self diagnosing myself or my kids and stressing about nothing. If you think something is wrong leave it to the professionals.

It’s 5 o’clock (somewhere)...what’s your drink of choice?

Rośe or sparkling. My favourite cocktail is Mojito.

If you could teleport anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Japan. I have always been desperate to go.

You have four free hours to yourself; what do you do?

Nap, enjoy the silence, relax, shop and go to the toilet without an audience of little people.

In three words, describe yourself as a mum.

Loving, driven, fun.

With love,

My Super Nanny.
