Meet this week's Super Mum… Emma Hawkins.
She might try and fool you into thinking she’s a farmer, but when it comes to styling your home, then she’s the go to girl. She’s the Founder and Creative Director of the online shop ‘Who Loves That’ featuring a range of beauty, lifestyle and home products. When she isn’t busy trying to juggle the every day struggle of mum and work life, you’ll find her on the side lines of the footy field cheering on her husband, Tom Hawkins.
You’re Mum to?
Arabella Jennifer Hawkins (5 ½ months)
Is motherhood what you envisioned it to be?
It’s more than I ever could have envisioned. It’s harder than I ever thought it could be. It more rewarding than I ever thought possible and it’s a stronger love that I didn’t know was real and that is useless describing to anyone unless they have their own children.
You are the Founder and Creative Director for ‘Who Loves That’. Can you tell us what your business is about?
It’s an online shop featuring a range of beauty, lifestyle and products for the home as well as an editorial component that features home ideas, DIY projects and lots of entertaining ideas and recipes.
Any top tips for fellow parents styling their own homes? And what are some of your favourite Interior Design Stores?
West Elm, Globe West, Ikea, Matt Blatt, Fenton and Fenton to name a few.
Stay away from white and light greys. Our new couch is already ruined five months in. Next time, we will be going a dark grey with texture.
How do you manage work life and mum life?
It is definitely a work in progress at the moment. Has anyone worked out the balance? The struggle is real going back to work and not sleeping through the night yet. I’ll let you know any tips once I’ve managed it. In the interim if anyone has nailed this balance let me know how! Haha
You live on a beautiful farm property in Geelong. Do you help our your husband with the farm work?
My intention on the farm was always to go out and ‘work’ every now and then to do some Insta stories! I’m a fake farmer…. However, I have soon learnt that when Tom goes interstate for work, the cows and sheep still need attention and I have to do it every now and then.
On the weekends we would typically see you cheering on your husband, Tom Hawkins and the Cats. Does Arabella love cheering on her daddy? How many games has she been to thus far?
Arabella went to a few day games when she was a newborn and it wasn’t too hard as she was sleeping. Now she is awake and in a routine I haven’t taken her to many. She cheered on Tom on this 200th game for a little bit then went back home to bed. She clearly doesn’t know what is going on, but they are beautiful memories for Tom and I and I am sure she will enjoy looking at the photos and footage of her as a baby with her dad when she is older.
What are you afraid of?
Something happening to Arabella that is out of my control. I never really new fear or anxiety until I became a mum.
Who is your hero?
My mum and my sister
What is your motto in life?
Things could be worse.
How do you take your coffee? And what are your go to cafes for your caffeine hit in the morning?
Geelong have awesome drive through’s which is the best thing ever!
What is your best beauty tip?
LED lights (I go to Pamper in Geelong)
